We’re excited to mark a major milestone — 15 years of empowering founders, supporting innovation, and growing Western Australia’s early-stage investment community.

We celebrated with a fantastic evening for members, guests and friends of Perth Angels who gathered to reflect on the past 15 years and the role Perth Angels continues to play in enabling early stage startups.

We were joined at the celebration with the founders that started it all, including Greg Riebe, Jim Tweddle, Ray Hart, Sharon Dignard, Peter van Bruchem, Gary Macbeth, Phillip Kemp and Paul Kristensen. Thank you to our Chair Michael McKay for hosting the evening.

Over the past decade and a half, Perth Angels has:

1. Supported many founders and early-stage ventures across many sectors — offering not just capital, but mentorship, networks, and support.
2. Welcomed members from all backgrounds excited to invest in early stage startups and build a diverse network of fellow investors and founders.
3. Helped build and nurture a thriving innovation ecosystem in WA — turning bold ideas into impactful businesses.

As we celebrate this milestone, we want to thank every member, founder, partner and supporter who has been part of our story — whether you pitched, invested, mentored or cheered us on.

A big thank you the 2025 Perth Angels committee for supporting Perth Angels and to the Phoenix Brasserie in West Perth for hosting us for the evening.

We look forward to the next 15 years of discovering ideas, enabling founders, fuelling growth and unlocking great returns!

On May 22nd, we had an extraordinary evening at the 54th edition of Perth Angels Pitch Night. Four founders took the stage, captivating us with their businesses and innovative ideas. We were thrilled to hear from Penelope Lane from Esfam Biotech, Ewan Le Bourhis from Property To Renovate, Dylan Gray from Neo eX, Dean Shipp from Hy-Boost Technology

Penelope Lane introduced us to their work in developing two new small molecule drugs targeting advanced cancer and infectious diseases. Their first drug shows broad-spectrum antiviral activity, while the second offers cancer-agnostic applications. With globally recognised scientific leadership and wholly owned IP, Esfam Biotech is poised to address significant global medical conditions with limited treatment options.

Dean Shipp showcased their hydrogen co-fire system, designed to retrofit combustion engines. This system generates hydrogen on demand to assist fuel combustion, resulting in significant reductions in harmful emissions and improved fuel efficiency. Recent tests have shown up to a 35% improvement in fuel savings. Hy-Boost has now begun sales to a large logistics company, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

Ewan Le Bourhis presented Property to Renovate (Early Match), their Pre-Agency matching service, Early Match, which connects buyers and sellers without the need for legal paperwork, thus reducing friction. Specialising in properties requiring significant renovation or demolition, they operate in an underserved market. Fully licensed in real estate, Early Match can handle both off-market and on-market property sales.

Dylan Gray introduced Neo eX, a SAAS B2B business that integrates wearables data directly into clients’ existing member or user experiences. Their platform’s unique selling proposition lies in the engagement and gamification tools provided, ensuring high user retention. Additionally, their data analytics deliver actionable insights from continuous behavioral and activity data, adding immense value to their clients.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Carbon Group for hosting the event and serving delicious pizzas, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Our gratitude also goes out to our sponsor VICI Ventures, a Visagio Company, along with EIR, Carbon Group, and our business supporters Spacecubed, the City of Perth, and the Government of Western Australia for their unwavering support.

Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making the night a resounding success. Your presence and enthusiasm are what make events like these possible and impactful.

We look forward to the next edition of Perth Angels Pitch Night and continuing to support the innovative spirit of our startup community!

Perth Angels Pitch Night recently celebrated its 53rd edition with a dynamic evening filled with innovation, networking, and investment opportunities. Hosted in a vibrant atmosphere, the event featured presentations from Greg Re and Rod Wakefield of Envision Digital Pty Ltd, Kareena Waters from Onecard Group, and Neal Colley from Fluid-7, captivating the audience with their entrepreneurial ventures.

One of the highlights of the night was the announcement of VeinTech, a portfolio company, securing the Round 15 Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) grant, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward commercializing the VeinWise system. Additionally, Hayley Saddington, CEO of Peak Medical, shared a great opportunity with us as well, adding further excitement to the event.

This Pitch Night was amazingly presented by Michael McKay and the gracious hosting by Carbon Group, complemented by delicious refreshments. The support of sponsors and business supporters, including VICI Ventures, Carbon Group, IdeaBank, eir, Spacecubed, City of Perth, and the Government of Western Australia, contributed to the event’s success.

The diverse presentations showcased innovative solutions across various industries. Fluid-7 aims to address industry challenges related to ageing infrastructure, ESG requirements, and new energy integration into the supply chain. Onecard Enterprise specializes in onboarding and workforce compliance solutions, offering valuable insights for directors navigating regulatory complexities. Envision Digital empowers businesses by facilitating seamless data integration across systems, driving down operating costs through its suite of SaaS connectors.

Perth Angels Pitch Night serves as a valuable platform for entrepreneurs to secure funding, network with peers and investors, and engage with the entrepreneurial community. As attendees departed, they left with a renewed sense of inspiration and anticipation for the innovative opportunities ahead in the entrepreneurial landscape.

The Perth Angels was all over Perth on the last day of West Tech Fest – we kicked off the day with raging success in our Annual Angel Breakfast which covered off topics in investing in startups in Western Australia and then, immediately following at the other end of town, contributing to a discussion on deepening ties in tech and innovation between Perth and Singapore to connect and expand those startup into Singapore/ASEAN markets.

This event was sponsored by the City of Perth and run by Asialink Business and was one of the numerous satellite events of West Tech Fest.

It was opened by Lord Mayor Basil Zempalis and featured a panel discussion moderated by Asia Link’s CEO Leigh Howard. The panel comprised our own Greg Riebe and James Williamson of Orijin Plus who both were in-person on stage, with Penny Burtt from Stripe and Natalya Ann Thora Twohill from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade)’s Tech Landing Pad streaming in from Singapore.

The panel shared their experience and insights into the current and future tech landscape both from a technology perspective as well as investment perspective. They highlighted the importance of nurturing an ecosystem that supports the growth in each of tech start-ups, scale-ups and established tech businesses facilitating business expansion.

Collaboration was a key theme as there were many opportunities between Perth and Singapore. This conversation opened new perspectives on international cooperation and outlined the incentives and support available for businesses looking for access to growth and funding in the region.

Indeed, the Perth Angels has been a long time supporter of a local initiative called Singapore Connect which is focused on securing access to Singapore domiciled venture funds for WA-based ventures.

Thank you to the City of Perth, West Tech Fest and all partners and participants who contributed to the success of this event.
